On the sinner's prayer

A while back I preached a sermon titled, Grace is Unpredictable.  The premise was that in spite of our best efforts to make faith simple and easy to understand, the Bible makes it much more confusing than we would like.

This article makes a similar point with the starting point being a critique of the oft used, sinners prayer.  Check it out.

Darfur is Dying

This morning I posted the following over at SmartPastor.com

MTV (of all places) has produced a video game that helps educate on to the plight of folks in Darfur.  You can find it here:  http://darfurisdying.com/

As I played it I realized just how educational it was.  If you are trying to raise awareness for world missions this is a great tool. Take the time to check it out and then link to it yourself.

Just like I said over there, take the time to check it out.  It is quite good.

Churchill on forgiveness

I just finished a book I was looking forward to reading but found disappointing none the less, Churchill on Leadership.  It is on Winston Churchill and was supposed to be part biography and part leadership text.  It kind of missed on both accounts.

But it did have a great quote regarding forgiveness.  He spoke this when some people wanted him to bash Neville Chamberlin, a political opponent he just replaced as Prime Minister.  These words were spoken in 1940.

"This (bashing Chamberlin) would be a foolish and pernicious process....Of this I am quite sure, that if we open a quarrel between the past and the present, we shall find we have lost the future."
